Pediatric mood disorder treatment.
Depression, persistent dysregulation, chronic irritability. Mood symptoms in children rarely arrive alone. We treat the whole system. For children ages 5–12 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Pediatric mood disorders, treated as a system.
Childhood mood symptoms (persistent sadness, irritability that doesn't lift, loss of interest in things a child used to love, sleep changes, somatic complaints) rarely resolve in isolation. They live inside a nervous system, a family, a school, a peer environment. We treat them in that context.
On our team, psychiatry sits in the same weekly meeting as the therapist, the OT, the family therapist, and the case manager. Coordinated care means the prescriber knows exactly what is happening with your child in therapy, and the therapy team knows where the medication sits. We work alongside parents, as a team, and the plan moves forward as one.
What treatment looks like.
Inside the daily program, mood care looks like:
- Individual therapy in evidence-based modalities (CBT and behavioral activation), matched to the specific presentation
- Group therapy with peers working on similar regulation and connection goals
- Pediatric psychiatry on the team for medication consultation and management when indicated
- Family systems therapy and parent coaching: mood symptoms reshape a household
- OT and nervous-system regulation work target the somatic and sleep symptoms that come with mood disorders

Mood symptoms rarely show up alone.
In our program, mood disorders may arrive with anxiety, with a history of trauma, with ADHD, with autism, or with significant sensory processing differences. The diagnosis captures one slice; the actual clinical picture is wider. In our program, we treat the whole child.
Where to start.
NorthStar Day is for children whose mood symptoms need more than a weekly outpatient appointment can offer, whose sadness, anger, and loss of interest show up at home and at school, and whose presentation often involves more than one diagnosis at a time.
