Family is on the team.
The point isn't that we're the experts on your child. The point is that you are, and we make sure you have the tools. Children spend a few hours a day with us. They spend the rest of their hours with you. Whatever the program builds has to hold there.
That's why every family meets with their child's lead clinician for family therapy every week, the same cadence in PHP and IOP alike. Why parent coaching is built into the schedule. Why sibling support is available when it's needed. Siblings of children with intensive needs carry their own load.
What family sessions look like.
Family sessions usually happen at a low table with a few materials: a notepad, sometimes drawing supplies, sometimes a printed family-routine chart. Tone is conversational. The frame is family systems therapy. The work is with the patterns between people, not a child in isolation. The therapist isn't a referee; they're a guide for hard conversations and a coach for the language and posture parents use in the hard moment.
What gets discussed is concrete: the morning launch that's falling apart, the bedtime that won't hold, the sibling dynamic that keeps escalating, the school behavior that's flowing into home. The plan that comes out of it is concrete too.

Parent training, the practical kind.
Parent training in our program isn't a workshop on theory. It's coaching in the modalities your child responds to, so what works in our building works in yours. If your child is building DBT-informed regulation skills, the coaching is in prompting those same skills when emotions run high. If a CBT-based exposure protocol is reducing avoidance, the coaching covers how to hold the line at home.
What parents typically leave with:
- Concrete language for high-friction moments: transitions, meltdowns, refusals
- Routines that hold at home: morning launch, after-school transition, bedtime
- Awareness of their own nervous-system response, because co-regulation runs through the adult first
- A working understanding of what their child is actually doing in the program
- School coordination support when needed, with your permission
Is this part of what your child needs?
Family therapy and parent training are part of every care plan in our program, at a cadence and depth matched to the family. If outpatient parent training hasn't held, or if the child's presentation requires more than a parent can carry alone, this is where the work shifts.
